I have worried over this problem a long time. The engine was running really rough with occasional backfiring. I took it to my mechanic friend to have him rebuild the old B&B carburetor, hoping that would solve it. He found a vacuum leak at the manifiold that was causing the problem. Now the truck runs great again, didh't bother with the carb rebuild. But he did say the vacuum advance unit wasn't functioning.
I'm probably going to sell rhe truck anyway, so I'm not sure I'll bother with it.
