Look on Google or another search engine for information under "friction services".
For big equipment like cranes that still use brake shoe like equipment, there are companies that reline brake shoes, including automotive. SO you may not have to find original shoe replacements, just get your relined.
I had some worked on by a place near Baltimore 10-15 years ago.
