The only "safe" way for a seller not to get burned is a Wire transfer or cash. All other forms of payment can be stopped. Cashiers checks, bank checks, and even postal money orders. I learned this was true when I bought a bigger truck out of state and the seller required that. I then asked at my bank and they confirmed. They release transfers once an hour so I set it up at the bank, drove to inspect and then when everything was okay, I called them and they released the funds. Once his bank confirmed the money was in his account, he gave me the keys and title. I would think the buyer should come and meet you face to face to assure he's okay with everything.
