Over the years I have heard Clint's comments stated, echoed, and re-echoed. I, too have thought long and hard about sealing the air-ride seat. But, apart from an air bladder, I think sealing the seat is a pipe dream.
However, old time upholsterers have shared an old time tip of packing the spring coils with newspaper. That trick supposedly gives the springs an increased measure of firmness. My thought is that it would give mice an added incentive to move in; bedding material already supplied.
Taking that old world trick as inspiration, might upholstery foam, medium grade, cut to fit snuggly but not tightly packed in the springs, give the seat a little help?
