Headliner question

What material is used in the headliner kit? My 2 cab pillar pieces are starting to go the way of the Dodo bird after 37 years. The headliner itself is still in great shape. I plan on tracing the pillar pieces out using the best one of the two that are there now. My idea is to use cardboard box material and maybe some small rubber weatherstrip along the front edges of the pillar pieces. Thanks for any advice.
