And the service bulletin was 1955. So, apparently, whatever changes were made early on to eliminate vibrations must not had much of an effect.
The only time I notice a drive line vibration in my trucks is when I have driven in low range and I forget to phase the intermediate shaft to the drive shaft to the rear axle. If I don't, that "theoretical driveshaft" that passes through the transfer case from the front input flange to the rear output flange is out of phase and I can feel it.
You have to count that as a shaft - first is the intermediate shaft from the transmission to the transfer case, second is the "shaft" through the transfer case itself, third is the shaft from the transfer case to the rear differential.
I also had my driveshafts balanced by a drive line shop years ago. They were WAY out of balance, and because of the course splines, they were hard to balance.
