I’ve probably told this story here before…and I definitely do not condone it…makes me cringe every time but my tire guy here in BC at the big commercial tire store…when he airs up a split rim he doesn’t use a cage. Thinks they’re dangerous!
He clamps the air chuck on with the wheel laying flat on the ground. Then he stands on it & with his sledge he turns & keeps tapping the ring to keep it seated!!! Yikes!!!
I go outside the building when he does it 😄
