I am trying to get proper quench with closed chamber heads. you want the distance between the piston top and the quench area on the heads to be less than .040. way more efficient and less likely to ping. raising the compression by shaving the heads mostly. I dont know why they left the pistons that far down in the hole from the factory on the V8s. even the flathead mopars the pistons are only .001 below the deck!
