I'm guessing you did something to the switch when you had it off for cleaning.
If you removed the stud you have the fiber insulators wrong or not there.
Something you did with the switch is your problem.
I will second Vaughn about the neg, ground.
Your charging system won't be happy.
Is the smaller charging wire on the stud with The battery cable?

If so leave it off and try the cable again,
