Just a note on your fuel gauge. Switching to 12 volts will probably burn out the tank sending unit.

What year is your truck? I believe you can put a voltage drop in-line to in order to keep the later single wire sending units. But you can't do that with the early two wire sending units. Those are a completely different type of system. If you have the early two wire, you may be able to get around it by putting a voltage drop between the amp gauge and the dash gauge. You don't want to mess with the two wires connecting the two units if you have the early system.
