In 1967 there was a huge fire in the mountains nearby. And several other smaller ones. We weren't here then, but I've been told a lot of locals bought new trucks with small water pumps and contracted to the Forest Service, many of them paying for their trucks with the contract money. Of course a 4x4 truck was less than $3000 then.
You would probably fall in love with that truck if you bought it. :)
